Carmaig de Forest's songwriting has been referred to as "Raymond Carver's poems set to music". He opened for the Ramones in the early 1980s. And he continues to be an occasional opener for/guest of Violent Femmes. Alex Chilton produced his 1987 debut LP *I Shall Be Released. Also, he plays a mean ukulele.
